A continuation of ART 205, with an emphasis on individual student projects. Students will further an understanding of three-dimensional form by working with different processes and media such as: woodworking, welding, carving and casting in bronze.

  1. Introduction to studio environment and class expectations
  2.  Review of design approaches to Three-dimensional/Sculptural work.
  3. Bronze casting and the lost-wax process through the history of art.
    1. Variety of techniques available for working
  4. Techniques and process of working with Microcrystalline wax:
    1. Plaster mold making, hot and cold forming, use of tools for joining
  5. Investment mold-making & bronze pour
  6. Introduction to metal construction and use of design organization
  7. Orientation to different techniques: fabrication and welding
  8. Wood construction and new approaches to design
  9. Orientation to woodshop, tools and responsibilities
  10. Introduction to research of artists or sculptural techniques
    1. On line and written research best practices
