Center for Student Well-Being
The Center promotes and fosters a holistic approach to a healthy and balanced student experience with the goal of academic and personal success for all FLCC students.
The Center for Student Well-Being offers a wide range of services at no cost to FLCC students. Services include counseling, student health, basic needs, community standards, and other well-being programs. Students have access to a 24/7 tele-health program offering virtual medical and mental health care. The Center offers students in-person appointments for counseling, preventative care, treatment of common health problems, alcohol/drug screenings, STI testing, reproductive health resources, an on-campus Food Cupboard, Emergency Funding, Flick’s Place for household items and other Basic Needs supports. Counseling Services
The counseling services provide safe and confidential space where students can access mental health supports and services. Our compassionate and experienced counselors are dedicated to helping students navigate the challenges of college life, fostering emotional well-being, and empowering them to thrive academically and personally. The counseling staff is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space where students of all backgrounds feel heard and supported. Whether you need someone to talk to or tools to manage life’s challenges, we are here to help you achieve balance and success.
Student Health Services
Student Health services include medical services and wellness resources to promote students' physical and emotional well-being. Some of the services we provide are prevention and care for colds, flu, sore throats, aches, and pains; collection of required immunization records for students taking in-person classes; pregnancy testing and referrals to reproductive health providers in the community; referrals to community partners such as Trillium Health, Finger Lakes Family Care, Planned Parenthood and Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes; alcohol screening and AOD education; tobacco cessation; physical activity strategies; healthy and inexpensive eating strategies; and injury prevention and care for strains, sprains, and wounds. All services are offered with a registered nurse or family nurse practitioner. Students have access to the FLCC Student Health Portal, which is used for students to upload medical documentation such as their immunization records or securely message a Health Services provider with questions.
Virtual Care from Anywhere
TimelyCare, a telehealth program for students, is included in the Student Health fee. The service provides access to virtual 24/7 medical and mental health care from anywhere to enrolled, matriculated students!
Get on-demand support from counselors, doctors, nurse practitioners, and more. Services include unlimited medical, TalkNow, and health coaching visits, and up to 12 counseling appointments.
Confidentiality
Information that is shared with counseling and health services staff will not be disclosed without the student's written permission, except in unusual circumstances, such as imminent danger to the student or someone else, reports of sexual harassment or sexual violence as required by Title IX legislation or court subpoena.
Student Basic Needs
Basic Needs support services are located within the Center for Student Well-Being. We realize the difficulty students may face in ensuring that their basic needs are met. FLCC has a number of services to minimize these barriers and support your success such as a food cupboard, assistance with transportation expenses, referrals to community agencies and for students experiencing a financial emergency, a student emergency fund that is sponsored by the FLCC Foundation. Additional supports include help with housing and food insecurity through the SUNY Homelessness Liaison, assistance with SNAP benefits, and access to additional resources using SingleStop.
Community Standards
FLCC promotes a safe and positive learning environment in and out of the classroom. All students attending the College accept individual responsibilities and are held accountable through FLCC's community standards. The Community Standards policies and procedures are managed by staff in the Center for Student Well-Being. The Community Standards policies and procedures encourages students to meet the highest standards of conduct possible while attending FLCC. The specific policies that are managed by Community Standards for students are the Student Code of Conduct, the Non-Discrimination Policy, the Title IX policy, and the Academic Grievance policy.
Sensory Room
The sensory room in the Center for Student Well-Being is a designated area designed to help students regulate their emotions and sensory needs. The room provide a calming environment where students can take a break, self-regulate, and manage feelings of stress, overstimulation, or anxiety. Our sensory room includes tools and activities such as soft lighting, fidget toys, sensory bins, calming visuals, and comfortable seating to address various sensory inputs like touch, sound, sight, and movement. The sensory room is available to all students and can be especially beneficial for students with sensory processing challenges, autism, ADHD, or anxiety.
