Center for Student Involvement and Leadership
The Center for Student Involvement and Leadership develops students as life-long learners and leaders by providing high-quality programs that complement and enhance the student experience. It fosters an environment where students think critically, engage in meaningful connections, and apply their learning through hands-on experiences.
The Center excels in meeting students’ developmental needs by offering interconnected, transformative learning opportunities in student-centered environments across the College. It celebrates the rich distinctiveness of our student body, promotes healthy lifestyles and leadership, and empowers students to gain real-world, practical experience. Through diverse activities, events, and programs, students at Finger Lakes Community College become active contributors to campus life and the broader College community.
The Center’s objective is to offer realistic, growth-oriented, and authentic experiences that students can take with them into any home, business, or community setting after graduation. Co-curricular activities support social, cultural, educational, and civic awareness through:
-
Providing leadership development opportunities through Student Corporation, Student Assembly, the Student Corporation Activities Committee, multicultural and identity-based student clubs, organization management, the Warrior Series, and other workshops.
-
Helping students build the skills to manage their academic, personal, and professional lives independently, while fostering self-governance, personal responsibility, and a strong sense of agency.
-
Connecting students with local and regional agencies for community service and service-learning.
-
Planning campus-wide programs and events that prepare students to engage meaningfully with our global society.
-
Enriching the academic experience through a diverse and dynamic array of student-centered activities.
The College also supports student voter registration efforts. To that end, the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, in collaboration with Disability Services, provides information and support for voter registration activities. Student Corporation
The Student Corporation represents the interests and concerns of the student body to College leadership. It serves as the formal link between students and the faculty and administration — those who shape policies that impact the student experience. The Student Corporation also plays a key role in fostering meaningful and enriching co-curricular opportunities that contribute to a vibrant educational environment.
Students interested in leadership opportunities with the Student Corporation are encouraged to contact the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership at 585.785.1264.
