Estimated Cost of Attendance
The Cost of Attendance (COA) is an estimate of the educational expenses a typical student may incur during a traditional academic year, generally consisting of the fall and spring semesters. The COA is used to determine financial aid eligibility and includes both costs billed directly by Finger Lakes Community College and estimated indirect educational expenses.
A student’s Cost of Attendance is based on several factors, including enrollment level, housing status, residency status, and academic program. Initial financial aid offers are generally prepared assuming full-time enrollment. After the census date each semester, the College reviews and verifies a student’s actual enrollment status and recalculates the Cost of Attendance and financial aid eligibility, if necessary.
The COA is not a representation of a student’s actual semester bill. Actual expenses may vary depending on a student’s individual circumstances, enrollment level, housing arrangements, academic program, transportation needs, and personal spending choices.
The Cost of Attendance includes both direct and indirect costs:
- Direct costs are expenses billed by the College and may include tuition, fees, housing, and meal plans.
- Indirect costs are estimated educational expenses that are not billed directly by the College but that students may reasonably incur while enrolled. These may include books, course materials, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.
Additional fees may apply depending on a student’s academic program, course selection, or method of instruction, including online or in-person coursework.
Additional information regarding tuition and fees is available through the FLCC Student Accounts Office.
