1. Build basic sight-singing skills.
2. Write from dictation (eg. basic melodic, rhythmic, and intervallic).

1. 1. Melody
2.     a. Dictation: stepwise melodies and melodies using major and minor 2nds and 3rds
3.     b. Mode identification: major and the three forms of the minor scale
4.     c. Scale degree identification: single notes
5.     d. Intervals: identify and sing major and minor 2nds and 3rds, and perfect 4ths and 5ths
6. 2. Harmony
7.     a. Chord function identification: I, IV, and V
8.     b. Triad position identification: all three positions of major and minor triads
9.     c. Chord quality identification: major, minor, diminished, and augmented triads
10. 3. Rhythm
11.     a. Introductory-level simple and compound meter
12. 4. Sight singing
13.     a. Exercises involving stepwise motion and small leaps
