ART-109 Art Portal

This first year seminar course is designed to introduce Fine Art and Graphic Design students to the basic ideas and concepts of what it means to be an artist and or designer. Students will develop a plan for developing a portfolio prior to graduation. Basic Macintosh computer skills, an introduction to college computing, individualized student support, college survival skills, and career planning will also be included in the course.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Photograph, save, and archive work and apply images to a web source such as a digital portfolio or blog to catalog creative development.
  2. Establish methods of organization to promote educational success strategies (eg. accomplish goals, keep deadlines, stay on track).
  3. Recognize and apply the technical tools necessary to communicate effectively at the college.
  4. Locate and utilize available resources in the art area, the library, and the academic commons.
