Certificate of Residence
A valid Certificate of Residence is necessary for a student attending a community college in New York State to receive in-state tuition rates. Updated certificates are required each year.
A Certificate of Residence must be obtained from the student’s county (or counties) of residence. To be eligible for a Certificate of Residence, the student must have resided in New York State for at least one full year prior to the date of application. Certificates must be dated no earlier than 60 days prior to the student's registration date and no later than 30 days after the start of classes.
Students who fail to submit a Certificate of Residence will be charged an out-of-county tuition premium of $210.00 per credit hour.
