NUR-211 Clinical Make-Up Practicum

This intensive, forty hour clinical make up course is required for the student in good clinical standing who has been absent for more than 10% of the required clinical hours in an FLCC required nursing courses with a clinical component. This course offers the student exposure to clinical experience with time possibly being divided between day, evening or weekend shifts thereby allowing for continuity and intensity of clinical learning. This course is graded S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory).

1. Because this is a practice course, there are no defined topics other than those related to the patients students have cared for. However, examples of topics could include:
2. 1. Nursing interventions for patients with difficulty breathing secondary to emphysema
3. 2. Assessing the patient with coronary artery disease
4. 3. Administering medications to patients on aspiration precautions
5. 4. Working with families to help them deal with the anticipated loss of a family member
