MUS-270 Techniques of Audio Recording II
This is a continuation of audio one. Emphasis will be on gaining experience in the studio thru a variety of student projects. Students will study multi track theory, aural analysis, microphones, effects and sequencing.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Create recordings of musical ensembles
- Proper use of Avid's Pro Tools software (e.g. punch in recording, basic editing, basic automation concepts)
- Operate hardware during a studio recording (e.g. reamping techniques, advanced patchbay signal flow, outboard pre-amps, recording using a DI Box, cue sends from the console, overdubbing techniques)
- Analyze problems and possible solutions, as well as sonic characteristics, during the recording process
