Academic Success and Access Programs

The office of Academic Success & Access Programs is located on the third floor of the Charles J. Meder Library. It is the center for all academic support services that are available at the main campus in Canandaigua.  Academic Support Services are also available to students at the Geneva, Newark and Victor Campus Centers.

Academic Success Strategies

The Math Center

The Math Center is a drop-in and by-appointment tutoring center staffed with professional and student tutors. Located in Room 3205, it provides in-person and online tutoring sessions with space to accommodate multiple tutoring and group study sessions. Services are free. The Write Place

The Write Place offers free and friendly support for all campus writers at any stage of their process, assisting with any type of project in any subject area. With locations at the entrance of the Library (Rm 2441), as well as in each of our campus centers, the Write Place staff helps writers gain confidence, skill, and success with their work. Writing Mentors are available by appointment by registering with https://flcc.mywconline.com and selecting the Write Place schedule or on a drop-in basis. The Write Place website, www.flcc.edu/offices/writingcenter, contains more information about our offerings as well as a range of writing resources for students and faculty.

Science Incubator

The Science Incubator, a Learning Center for Science, is in Room 3670. The Incubator provides professional tutoring support in-person and online as well as a large work/study area that offers access to equipment often required to work outside the lab and classrooms. Tutoring appointments can be made by registering for https://flcc.mywconline.com and selecting the Science Incubator schedule.  Walk-in assistance is also available. The Science Incubator website, https://www.flcc.edu/offices/incubator, provides hours of operation and more detailed instruction for accessing Incubator services.

Subject Tutoring

Tutoring for specific subjects outside of math, writing, and science courses is available in-person and online in Suite A of the Academic Support and Access offices (Room 3535 in the library).  Subjects vary by semester but subject tutoring typically includes Accounting, ASL, Music Theory, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Culinary/Hospitality. Subject Tutoring schedules can be found by registering for https://flcc.mywconline.com and selecting the “Other Subjects” schedule.  Requests for additional subject tutoring can be made by email at academicsupport@flcc.edu.

Educational Opportunity Program 

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is a state funded initiative that provides assistance to qualifying students who show potential to succeed in college. Participating in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides enhanced academic support for under-prepared students such as personal academic advisement, tutoring, modest financial assistance, and a pre-freshman summer program.
