Title IV Authorization to Use Aid to Pay Non-Institutional Charges

Generally, federal financial aid can only be used to pay for tuition and fees assessed to a student's account. However, with proper student authorization, federal financial aid may be used to cover charges beyond tuition and fees. A Title IV Authorization Form is used to obtain a student's consent to use federal financial aid funds (such as Pell Grants, Direct Loans, and PLUS Loans) to pay for charges other than tuition and fees. These charges may include bookstore charges, housing and meal plans, parking fees, and other educational expenses. Without a Title IV Authorization Form on file, federal financial aid funds can only be applied to tuition, fees, and other institutional charges directly related to educational expenses.

If a student wants federal aid to cover additional charges, such as housing or bookstore purchases, they need to provide explicit consent through the form. A Title IV Authorization Form is available as an agreement on MyFLCC. If a student wishes to purchase course materials, supplies, and equipment through the FLCC bookstore, they must sign the Title IV Authorization agreement. Once the agreement is signed, students who have financial aid that exceeds their semester bill may use their credit at the Bookstore for educational-related expenses.

Students have the right to revoke or change their Title IV authorization at any time. They can update their authorization preferences by contacting the Financial Aid Office.
