Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe how the aging process and aged populations are studied from interdisciplinary perspectives.
  2. Be able to discuss and write about how factors such as gender, social class, ethnic status, cultural differences impact aging and elderly populations .
  3. Investigate and assess contemporary political and health care policies impact aging and older populations
  4. Identify financial, lifestyle, retirement and work related issues that effect aging and older populations.
  5. Identify contemporary and historical attitudes, stereotypes and myths about the aging process.
  6. Be able to describe special challenges faced by the elderly.
  7. Identify resources and programs available to the elderly.
  8. Identify medical/health care and quality of life issues faced by the elderly
