Reinstatement for Academically Dismissed Students
A student who has been academically dismissed for not meeting the College’s Standards of Progress may be readmitted after leaving the College for the period specified below.
When an Academic Appeal is granted, the student will be reinstated with probationary status and required to meet conditions specified by the Committee on Academic Standing and/or the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Instruction or the Associate Provost of Student Affairs. Conditions may include completing specific course(s), limiting the number of credit hours for which the student may register, achieving a semester grade point average of 2.00, being restricted from online courses, and/or successfully completing all coursework.
Students who fail to meet the conditions of reinstatement will be required to separate from the College as follows:
- First failed contract/dismissal: One-year separation from Finger Lakes Community College
- Second failed contract/dismissal: Three-year separation from Finger Lakes Community College
- Third failed contract/dismissal: Three-year separation from Finger Lakes Community College
Students may contact the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Instruction or the Associate Provost of Student Affairs with any questions regarding reinstatement at 585-785-1284.
