Academic Appeals

A student who has been academically dismissed from FLCC may appeal the dismissal if extenuating circumstances contributed to the dismissal, including, but not limited to, illness, injury, or other medical reasons.

To begin the Academic Appeal process, the student must complete an Academic Dismissal Appeal form. Academic Dismissal Appeal forms are available online at https://flcc.formstack.com/forms/appeal. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a staff member in the Center for Academic Advising and Transfer Services to review the Academic Appeal process.

The appeal and any supporting documentation must be submitted to the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Instruction or the Associate Provost of Student Affairs by the stated deadline. Appeals are reviewed periodically throughout the academic year by the Committee on Academic Standing and/or the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Instruction or the Associate Provost of Student Affairs.

The Committee on Academic Standing is composed of faculty members and representatives from the Center for Academic Advising and Transfer Services, Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts, and the Center for Student Well-Being. The Committee on Academic Standing reviews and acts on academic dismissal appeals and is the final authority on appeals of academic dismissal.

Students will be notified in writing or by email regarding the outcome of their appeal. Students may contact the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Instruction or the Associate Provost of Student Affairs with any questions regarding the Academic Appeal process at 585-785-1284.
