Cultural Diversity

Finger Lakes Community College is committed to cultural diversity in its student body and staff. It also seeks to have an environment that promotes and supports differences of opinions and views. To this end, the curriculum and co-curricular activities are encouraged to reflect a variety of perspectives that foster cultural diversity.

At Finger Lakes Community College, we strive to create a welcoming, equitable community where differences are valued and respected. Diversity is strength—and nowhere is that more evident than in higher education. As an institution of higher education, we know that learning is enhanced when students, faculty, and staff interact with people whose identities, worldviews, and experiences are diverse in nature. At the same time, we recognize the long and painful history of exclusion and oppression that has brought us to the present day. As a campus community we know that we cannot enjoy the benefits of diversity without insuring equitable and inclusive treatment for all. In particular, this means that Finger Lakes Community College must enact policies that reach out to those who have been silenced and marginalized. In all, Finger Lakes Community College is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its student body and staff. It also seeks to have an environment that promotes and supports differences of opinions and views. To this end, the curriculum and co-curricular activities are encouraged to reflect a variety of perspectives that foster cultural diversity.
