ITA-101 Italian I
This is an introductory Italian course for students with little or no knowledge of the language. It develops the four language skills at a novice level: listening, speaking, reading and writing. It introduces high-frequency vocabulary, basic constructions and grammar, and provides opportunities for students to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Italian culture.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to use greetings and courtesies in Italian in written and spoken form.
- Students will identify and apply the basic structures of the language: pronunciation, simple grammatical structures, and sentence patterns.
- Students will produce and comprehend sentences in the present tense.
- Students will describe the major cultural traditions associated with Italy.
