ITA-101 Italian I

This is an introductory Italian course for students with little or no knowledge of the language. It develops the four language skills at a novice level: listening, speaking, reading and writing. It introduces high-frequency vocabulary, basic constructions and grammar, and provides opportunities for students to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Italian culture.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will be able to use greetings and courtesies in Italian in written and spoken form.
  2. Students will identify and apply the basic structures of the language: pronunciation, simple grammatical structures, and sentence patterns.
  3. Students will produce and comprehend sentences in the present tense.
  4. Students will describe the major cultural traditions associated with Italy.
